Today we would like to introduce you to Emily Daccarett, fashion and music can not be separated. Daccarett creates an immersive world of storytelling through music, film, and fashion. Each artistic direction begins with a beat that forms a story. From the start of her brand, she has fused those worlds together, creating a symbiotic flow between the two. She uses textiles, shapes, and sound as her tools to world-building, and give her audience the chance to step into those stories and experience it themselves.

She graduated from Instituto Marangoni in Paris and the prestigious Ecole De La Chambre Syndicale de La Couture Parisienne, where she trained in the French technique of draping and pattern making. Soon after graduated from the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles.

She made her runway debut with Concept Shows during LA Fashion Week. Now she is pushing the boundaries of her imagination through synth-pop. Think of Blondie and David Lynch having a baby in 2020 and that's the direction her music takes.

Hereby the 10 questions to get to know better Emily Daccarett.

When did you start doing music and how was your childhood?
I was always singing and making up little songs as far back as I can remember. I loved singing along to Disney movies and musicals like Phantom of The Opera, Annie, and Moulin Rouge.
When I was five my mom put me into dance classes, and I fell in love with music even more. Having that special connection to music while dancing on stage is a euphoric feeling that never gets old. My mom loved to sew and would make me dresses that she and I designed. I had my own tiny sewing kit and would make Barbie clothes while my mom was sewing. I didn’t understand what fashion was, but it quickly became my other passion. My childhood was packed with dance classes, dance competitions, choir, plays, and styling. I would be lying if I said I didn’t plan to pursue fashion and music. I decided to study fashion design first and moved to Paris to study and hoped I could work on my music. When I moved to LA to start my brand, I thought music would have to hold off even more. I was getting ready for my first fashion show and produced a short fashion film to be screened before the runway show. Getting the license for the French song I had picked was taking too long so we decided to work with a film composer. We started working on the music and because it needed to be in French, I had to write the lyrics and provide the female vocals. It was a dream come true, one I thought I had to let go to continue as a fashion designer.

How has been your music influenced compared to the place where you grew up or live now? ‍

I loved and still love the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s music thanks to my parents.

My dad would play Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Creedence, Pink Floyd, and my mom would play Michael Jackson, Abba, Foreigner, Air Supply, Blondie to name a few.

When I moved to France, I fell in love with French pop. It’s a mix of folk, rock, and nostalgia. My music has that nostalgic French pop feel, with elements of rock and 80’s pop. With my ep Cannibal, I went more synth 80’s pop with 70’s rock, it was a departure from the retro French pop I had started, but this ep was me not my fashion brand. My follow up album will bring my two worlds together..

What's your current dream?
To tour with my music. I wasn’t that interested in touring, mainly because I have to divide between music, designing, working in a fashion magazine, and creative director. Being in quarantine since the beginning of March, that’s all I want to do. Play my songs live along with my band and share my songs in-person city to city



Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself having integrated my music and my fashion brand together. With my projects, I try to create an escape from reality and a sense of wonder. It’s the reason why my songs are more dreamlike, with a touch of innocence, and seduction. I like to try and create stories with my songs that can soothe people and let them relax.

Did you ever play in front of a big crowd or on television? How was it? If not, where would you love to play at?  
I played in front of a big crowd for my ep release party. It was at a castle-like house in the Hollywood Hills overlooking the LA skyline. It was incredible, I felt like I had stepped onto the movie set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

If you would have the possibility to collaborate with a big artist, who would that be? why? I would love to collaborate with Lana Del Rey. I love her way with words, she paints such a beautiful picture with every song, it’s a wonderful nostalgic mess.

What's your favourite thing to do in your free time?
I love to watch movies and documentaries. I’m a huge cinephile. I love finding obscure films, so good their bad, animated…… everything.


You have been air played in one of the biggest radios on earth, who would you call first to tell the news? why?
My mom and dad. They encouraged me to follow my dreams no matter how impossible they seem. They are my biggest cheerleaders and I want them to share in everything I do or accomplish.
